A BC-based DJ could be added to the ranks of DJ ATrak, Qbert, & DJ Dopey who have all been crowned with the title of World DMC DJ champion over the past few decades. First, it starts with winning a regional DJing competition.

Footwerk Events, JayWho Productions, & Bassbizniz (Nelson) are proud to announce that the only BC regional 2011 DMC competition will be held at Sapphire Nightclub this summer. The winner will go on to compete at the national event on September 10, 2011 in Hamilton, Ontario; an all expense paid trip. Join us on Thursday August 18, 2011 to support the many local & out-of-town DJs battling for a chance to represent Canada at the 2011 DMC World Finals held at the prestigious Indig02, 02 Arena in London UK on Thursday October 6 & 7, 2011.

Thanks to new Digital Vinyl Systems technologies like Serato that emulate DJing with vinyl records, DJs still use traditional turntables & a battle mixer when performing. The hype and excitement of a DMC DJ battle is the same as it was 25 years ago. The BC DJ talent pool runs deep and the 2011 DMC British Columbia Regional Heat will be a banger of a show. Catch these fresh young DJs perform live as they mix, scratch, & beat juggle their way into history.

We encourage past DMC competitors to participate, we also invite youth DJs to compete, and we strongly encourage the lady deckstresses to battle as well.

Disco Mix Club (DMC) is a DJ remix service founded by Tony Prince which began as a radio show (Disco Mix Club Show) in 1981 on Radio Luxembourg in the UK. BATTLE RULES

1 ) Each DJ peforms a 6 minute set (1 round only), judges determine the 1st through 3rd place winners.
2) Technics 1200 / 1210s are the only permitted turntables; no CDJs or midi controllers.
3) Rane TTM 57 / TTM 56 + SeratoLive Box will be supplied. (DJs are free to bring their own mixers and Traktor or other DVS system boxes). DJs can also choose to rock all vinyl too.
4) Absolutely no external samplers or effects units.
6) 1st Place winner is flown to Hamilton for the finals. 2nd and 3rd are invited special guests to compete in the Canadian National finals but must handle their own expenses.
7) No fee to compete. It is free.
