3 sick dudes from Germany on stage all at the same time banging out.

Juwee, FxFarmer and Bobby Kudlicz: the three headz from the south of Germany, who launched the project Funkanomics in late 2006, have since then been touring extensively in the club scene. They have taken their beat contoured live experience and mixed it with their own funked up style in their productions. A sound that is designed for the dance floor and made up of beautiful crunchy bass lines, coupled with pumping grooves. A merger that works and once it starts can´t be stopped.
In their sets the “Funkos” impress by presenting their sound on four turntabels plus a very own live set including breakbeat with influences from
hiphop, funk, dope beats, reggae and electronica. They go against the grain
of conventional djing so smoothly, that you only have to listen to it once and
its inside your head. As a result the crowd is instantly whipped to a frenzy with an imaginative and more approach to dance not confined to one genre.

Evan Chandler aka Slynk had music on the mind from birth. Naturally gifted with a musical ear he flirted with a range of classical instruments includingpiano, guitar and drums. In 2004, Slynk received a gift that would inevitably set the wheels in motion. A set of turntables motivated the aspiring DJ, and consequently resulted in an unremitting addiction to vinyl. The two years following, in his hometown Brisbane, Slynk secured residency in an underground New York inspired café. Here he refined his skills, experimented and educated his peers and fans with mash up productions of classic hip hop, ingrained with rare and funky, rhythmically savvy grooves.
Recently Slynk smashed the Fractal Forest stage at Canada’s biggest breakbeat festival, Shambhala, simultaneously releasing his first three vinyls on respected ghetto funk labels Goodgroove and Manmade. All of which featured in Juno Record’s Best of Breakbeat 2009 list hitting number 1, 12 & 30.
Slynk has supported an unsurpassed list of local and internationalartists, including De La Soul, Spinderella (Salt’n’Pepa), Ugly Duckling, Amp Fiddler, Lyrics Born, Roots Manuva, DJ Moneyshot (Solidsteel), Killaqueenz, DCUP, Featurecast, Fuzzbox INC, Nick Thayer, Boogie Army, Fdel, Qdup, The Nextmen, Dexter, Rennie Pilgrim, Rouge Element, Sly Players, Rephrase, Jon Ohms and countless others.

Sweet Soul Burlesque is Western Canada’s longest running professional neo-burlesque troupe. Founded in 2003 out of a passion for the genuine DIY pin-up grrl culture, Sweet Soul strives to raise the bar by creating fun, ground-breaking burlesque performances that are of unequaled production value. From ribbon staffs to giant venus fly traps to fire tricks to life-sized jack-in-the boxes, each Sweet Soul dancer has spent years individually crafting her own persona & performance style. Get ready for a vibrant mash-up of classic striptease with elements of hiphop, underground dance culture & punk rock.
Since their inception, Sweet Soul Burlesque has quickly become internationally reknown and has been featured in the Globe & Mail, CBC Television and Radio, Fashion TV, MuchMusic & MTV and has appeared at hundreds of events & festivals across the continent, from the Shambhala Music Festival to the New York Burlesque Festival. In 2010 they were honoured with a nomination for World’s Best Troupe at the International Burlesque Hall of Fame in Las Vegas. Additionally, four (4) Sweet Soul dancers have been nominated as soloists in the Best Debut category since 2007.

★ FOOTWERK HOLIDAY JAM – 4AM closing★
★ MAT THE ALIEN ★
EXTENDED DJ SET

DJ / VJ – Whistler | Squamish | England | BC | Canada | Outer Space

http://www.matthealien.ca

http://www.jaimeledubstep.com/mixes/JLD_no99_Mat_The_Alien.mp3

BIO: (very long, why not post all of it.)Let’s clear something up. Technically Mat is not an Alien. He grew up not too far from Manchester (UK) and moved to Canada in the mid 90’s to follow his snowboarding addiction which he stumbled upon during a trip to Austria. He has been DJing since 1988 and was inspired to play the drums by local bands such as (The Stone Roses and Happy Mondays) after being introduced to the DJ culture of the acid house warehouse parties he was hooked on blending beats on the turntables. He further developed his style while working in his family’s record store (opened by his dad at age 4.) Mat’s music selection appeals to a wide variety of crowds spanning many genres from Hip-Hop, Glitch Hop, Dubstep, Funk, Dance-hall, Break Beats, Electro, Drum & Bass, Rock, and more. He learned this from DJing in Whistler to varied crowds of people visiting from all over the world. His style has been described by Knowledge Magazine as “awe inspiring & some next level shit.”
Mat has toured across the globe to some of the following places: Moscow, London (Fabric), Austria, Germany, Sweden, Iceland, Italy, Korea, Philippines, Mexico, Guatemala, as well as all over the U.S. and Canada at events of up to 8,000 people, he has held down residencies at club nights in Whistler, Vancouver and Las Vegas at Mandalay Bay. He has also performed alongside most of his favorite acts.
With crates as deep as a black hole he has combined world class mixing and scratching skills and is considered “Really Good” by anyone who sees him.
Mat was chosen to represent Canada at the Canada House during the 2006 Winter Olympics and DJed at events for the 2010 games in whistler. He has produced many mix CDs, and been busy making music and scratching on music that has appeared on T.V. show’s such as: MTV News, Disband, Anna Nicole Smith A&E biography, Danny Bonaduce reality TV show, the theme tune to the ride guide mountain bike show and also did all the scratching on the video game N.B.A. Street Home court for E.A. sports.
Mix CD highlights are the 2002 C1RCA Presents Knowledge Magazine Mix CD, which showcased his ability to blend several styles of music seamlessly. Over 80,000 copies of the CD were distributed worldwide, to critical and popular acclaim. The follow up was C1RCA Presents C1pher 2004 which also featured DJ Dopey, the 2003 World DMC Champion and another collaboration CD with UK beat-boxer Killa Kela.
Mats cuts can be heard on 6 tracks on the new album from Fort Knox Five – Radio Free D.C. as well as 2 tracks on the latest Sweatshop Union album and his remixes have been played by (Bassnectar, Ill Gates, ASkillz, Nick Thayer, Fort Knox Five, Z-Trip, Nu-Mark) and he has a re-edit on Krafty Kuts latest mix CD.
On another note Mat has also changed the way people play 7” records with “Mat’sMat’s,” slipmat’s for 45’s allowing DJs to scratch and cue 45 rpm records the same as they would a 12-inch, there is also Boca 45 (dynamo productions) ltd edition run of Mat’sMat’s
At shows mat is know for pristine – quick mixing of many genres (usually driven by heavy bass-lines) and scratching techniques that really does sound like it came from another world.
Did Mat really get abducted by aliens ???? We’ll never know but one thing is certain- Mat the Alien is capable of some out of this world DJ sets…………………….

http://www.kraftykuts.com/

So far in a glittering career he has gained dance music’s top accolades including Best International DJ at the Australian Dance Music Awards, Breakspoll’s Face of Breaks 2003 and Best Breaks DJ at the M8 Ibiza awards 2006, in only his first year as a resident on the white isle. A stunning haul at Breakspoll 2007 saw him claiming Best Album for his debut long player ‘Freakshow’, Best DJ for a record third consecutive year and to cap it off, the richly deserved Outstanding Contribution to Breakbeat award that acknowledged his long journey to the acme of club culture.

Inspired by the hip-hop and electro sounds that were rocking his world, Martin first stepped behind a pair of decks when he entered a DJ competition and incredibly, as a complete novice, he made it all the way to the final. With his love affair for the wheels of steel well and truly cemented, Krafty Kuts set about learning his art, perfecting the cutting and scratching that was to become the core of his DJ sets.

Immersing himself in the music he loved, Martin went on to run one of Brighton’s most popular record shops throughout the 90s. Building an encyclopaedic knowledge of dance music in all its forms, Krafty’s expertise marked him out as a prime supplier of dance-floor bullets to Brighton’s musical elite, including the town’s most famous son Norman Cook. Having built a fearsome DJing reputation for himself across the south-coast, with a string of high-octane gigs it was during 1996 that Martin took the next logical step, transferring his dance-floor knowledge to the studio, creating his own tracks to take his sets to the next level.

His first big break came when a dubplate of Krafty Kuts’ ‘Gimme The Funk’ found its way to Norman Cook who immediately snapped it up for his Southern Fried label, releasing it to huge club approval. Suitably impressed Ministry of Sound offshoot FSUK took on Krafty unleashing a string of classic singles; ‘Funky Elements’, ‘Wild In the Aisles’ (a tribute to Martin’s legendary appearance on Supermarket Sweep!) and ‘Return of the Elements’.

With his own tracks elevating his profile across the globe Martin mixed his first compilation ‘Slam On The Breaks’ which gathered the cream of the breaks scene into a mercurial mix, further enhancing his notoriety as a devastating deck technician and selling by the bucket-load. At about the same time, Krafty hooked up with Skool of Thought to establish the SuperCharged club night. Home to his longest standing residency, the night continues to pull in huge crowds and after 8 years of all encompassing party action on a Wednesday night, it is now one of Breakbeat’s most globally revered nights.

With the club world at his mercy the demand for Krafty’s studio abilities reached new heights. Becoming the remixer du jour, Krafty transformed numerous tracks in to serious party bangers for the likes of Jurassic 5, Arthur Baker, Eric B & Rakim, Stakker Humanoid and Afrika Bambaataa’s Funky Heroes’, for which he won a Best Remix award.

By 1999, with his all-encompassing club style, blending beats and breaks across the board, honed to perfection, Martin entered the studio with Freddy Fresh, long standing studio partner Ed Solo and NY’s own Dr Luke. Together they produced a series of beats and skits that were destined to become the backbone of Finger Lickin’s legendary Finger Lickin Funk release.

The following two years saw Martin’s star rise still further, creating music for a Coca Cola advert, PlayStation 2 and Guy Richie’s ‘Mean Machine’ as well as mixing one of Mixmag’s most popular cover mount CDs. With DJing and music making taking up all of his time, Krafty decided it was time to leave music sales behind and left the record shop that had proved pivotal in his early career. Free to concentrate fully on his creative side Martin launched both the Against The Grain and SuperCharged labels with club partner Skool of Thought and began releasing a series of smart-bombs that would hake the foundations of the Breaks scene. The ‘Lost Plates EP’, ‘Lock The Hype’ and ‘Sound Check’ proved beyond any doubt that Krafty Kuts was now established as a force to be reckoned with in dance music.

Having conquered the Breaks scene, Martin turned his attentions to a different groove and returned to his Hip-Hop roots. Following up on a contact made during his record shop days, he began a studio collaboration with up and coming DJ A-Skillz, that resulted in the stunning Hip-Hop and Party Breaks album Trickatechnology. Critically lauded on it’s release, the album saw the pair collaborating with rhyming behemoth Kurtis Blow, Dr Luke and Freakpower’s Ashley Slater on a series of superlative turntable compositions that demonstrated Martin’s fathomless knowledge of old skool breaks.

With the demand for his records and club sets showing no sign of slowing down, Martin took a backseat with the labels and club promotion and flung himself headlong into non-stop touring and recording. Working solidly throughout 2006 Krafty completed his debut solo album, Freak Show. Once again the tracks featured a stellar cast of collaborators from the Scratch Perverts, Tim Deluxe and Dynamite MC, to long term associates A-Skillz, Ashley Slater and Dr Luke. Mirroring Krafty Kuts’ universal approach to partying and the dance-floor, the album moved through myriad tempos, taking in Acid, Breaks, Booty Bass and Funk with a consummate ease. Again the plaudits flooded in, with Freaksow gaining album of the month in DJ magazine and top marks across the board. The album’s lead single ‘Bass Phenomenon was a ubiquitous feel good anthem of the summer and its popularity proved such that it won DJ Magazine single of the year 2006. Still played world-wide the track has recently spawned its own remix competition. Following hard on its heels a Fabriclive compilation proved to be one of the series’ most popular instalments with Martin’s trademark eclectic nature shining through.

From humble beginnings Krafty Kuts is now one of the big players on the world’s club scene, DJing alongside The Prodigy, Fatboy Slim and even the Rolling Stones. And with his recent Back To Mine raising the bar for the well-established series, combined with his continuing residency at Supercharged, it appears there is no end in sight to the meteoric rise of Krafty Kuts.

Born in Fiji, raised in New Zealand and formed musically in the dance music revolution of London in the late 90’s, FreQ Nasty started his career on the seminal UK label Botchit & Scarper in the late nineties, moving to SKINT Records in 2003. He went on to release a slew of cutting-edge records, collaborating with and remixing a diverse range of artists including Fatboy Slim, Kelis, KRS One, Roots Manuva, Rodney P, and Reggae legend Junior Delgado. 2008 saw the release of ‘Creator’, his crossover hit collaboration with MIA producer Switch and NYC hipster Santogold, and the ground breaking FABRICLIVE 42 mix CD, which was picked as DJ Magazine’s compilation of the month. He is one of Burning Man festival’s most loved DJs, where he brings his signature mix of Drumstep, GlitchHop, DubStep and all things Bass heavy every year. The FreQ Nasty single ‘Dread at the Controls’ was released through California’s cutting edge bass music label Muti Music in January 2011. The A Side is a fusion of lush Detroit strings, skittery 2-step beats, wobble bass, and a stupendous glitched-out dub-step breakdown. The B Side ‘Drum Play’ is a drum-step roller with the speed of drum and bass and the swagger of dancehall. This release launched an Australia/New Zealand tour and the 17-stop North American ‘Monsters of Bass’ tour with Crunkstep producer Marty Party and GlitchHop artist Opiuo. 2011’s freshest releases are ‘1000 Buddhas in the Pureland of Bass (Moombhacore Remix)’ featured on Muti Music’s AcidCrunk compilation, and FreQ’s ‘Low FreQency Pureland EP’ both coming out in November.

His latest side project touring the California festival scene, Dub Kirtan Allstars, was formed by FreQ Nasty and David Starfire as way of opening up the Yoga tradition to underground dance music club audiences.

In recent years the art of turntablism has spun off in myriad new directions, with techniques such as video scratching and instant sample creation representing a dramatic sea-change for the discipline. Few artists have been further to the fore of these fresh developments than Brighton’s 2 TIME UK DMC CHAMPION, JFB, a scratch DJ and party starter extraordinaire who won the UK DMC Championship in 2007 and 2011.

Catch him alongside regular collaborator Beardyman at one of their legendary Battlejam events, and you’ll bear witness to spectacular improvisational skills melded to ultra-cutting edge technology. When Beardy drops a rhyme, it can be instantly sampled and scratched into new forms by the DJ, who’s also capable of throwing random crowd banter, smatterings of live musicianship and even video footage of the audience into the mix.

Yet unlike many turntablists, JFB also knows when to stop beatjuggling and start dropping bombs – ultimately, it’s all about making the people dance. Many of the tunes you’ll hear him spin will be his own recordings on labels like Sludge, Hospital or One Eye Records. This is an artist who’s fully immersed in bass culture, and just as happy spinning hip-hop or jungle as he is breakbeat and dubstep. Allow him free reign to do his thing with a full range of equipment at his command, and the results will be utterly ground breaking, but set him loose on two turntables and a decent scratch mixer, and the boy will set about producing results that are just as jaw-dropping.
